As per the plan, next to next week this under development product will be pushed for various phases of Test Cycles; so Mr. Manager wanted to see how the application is behaving under his naked eyes..
First of all.. before the Demo thing starts.. the projector refused to display anything on screen.. after so many of permutations and combinations of people and wires finally it came alive.. first hurdle we crossed !!
Next, one of the senior guy took the initiative and started the UI. Manager suggested some formatting and layout related changes and i smelled it as "Low and non-critical" PR. He then asked to click on some data links... the demonstrator followed it and .... and... Boom... An infamous "Null Pointer Exception" was on the screen... Manager looked at us with mischievous smile.. the demonstrator click on the refresh button desperately.. but it went in vain...
After that whatever screen that guy touched it all have some or all not working functionality...
At the end.. Mr. Manager got tired of finding the correct running thing... he stopped the Demo..
It was a big shock for me... as I am working here as a consultant whose main role is to help the people in terms of functional and technical aspects, and the team here is responsible for development of UI using their homegrown framework... so i was under impression everything would be in proper shape for Demo...
The funny part was.. no body in that team was looked so worried(except me.. bcoz of my working background of process driven development ).. even one of the manager who is actually handling development of this product was justifying the whole fiasco.. what rubbish !!!
Now only two weeks are left.. and they are pretty much sure(..sorry confident) that they will implement/fix all the remaining/missing part of development...
Well.. Mr. Manager wants to see the demo again before he flies back to US...
The title of this topics it self speaks enuf about the task achievement process !!!
